Shadowboxes at Shadowbriar

This is a miniature room that I made from a Capri Sun box. I made this last fall as an example when my fifth graders were doing a similar project. I spent an entire weekend making this and had the best time!
This spring my fifth graders are doing another shoebox project that I call "Artist in a Box." Guess which artist this fifth grader is doing... This student is doing a John Newsom box also. She was one of the students who actually got to meet John last year when he spent the day in my classroom as a "guest artist". Notice the books and pencil on his blue desk. This is the John Newsom box I made as an example for the assignment. It's not finished in this picture, so you can still see the uncovered cereal box This is the back of my John Newsom box...

New Kitchen Corner

I rearranged the little corner in my kitchen this morning. It wasn't that much different from how it is shown here. Basically, the table and ottoman were rearranged. I also rehung the panoramic picture of Rome.

Sexy Sweetie and his Sweet Studio

John is looking so handsome as he gets ready to go to the opera. I wish I was going with him!

On the right is a shot of John's studio. These paintings are still in the early stages, but you can already see how colorful and vibrant they are going to be. You can also see how big his paintings are!

First Saturday in May

I walked to Deidrich's Coffee with Georgie this morning to get a Hazelnut Mocha and as I was waiting for my coffee I started to realize that the last time I had been there was the first Saturday in April, which was my first post on this blog. I thought that was really cool until I was having my coffee at a table outside and ran into the same dog owner that I saw that same day that I was there last. He was there with his 4 dogs (the three puppies that are already bigger than their mom) just like the last time I saw him.

When we came home, Georgie fell into a deep sleep on the bed.

John in Soho

This is a really cute picture of John on Macdougal Street in Soho. He took this on his cell phone and sent it to me this afternoon. This picture was taken just around the corner from where we're going to live...where John currently lives. John is standing near the cafe that used to be "La Palette" (one of our favorite places to eat in NY), but is now "Oscar" (a nice cafe, but will never replace La Palette).

Bluebonnets in Central Park?

John took this picture in Central Park. The flowers look a lot like Texas Bluebonnets, but they are actually something else because Bluebonnets have different leaves. Maybe this is hyacinth.

Amira pics

This is John's neice, Amira. She is so cute and soon, she'll be my neice, too! Below is Claire (my future mother-in-law : ) holding Amira on the bridge in their backyard. They are probably watching the koi in the pond below.
